African Stars took revenge for their FNB Cup final defeat when they beat Civics 2-0 in a Premier League match at Windhoek's Independence Stadium on Sunday evening.
Stars were the first to threaten when Brouwers Litombo was put clear in the penalty area, but Civics keeper Sitali Mulife saved bravely at his feet.
The match then swung Civics' way as midfielder Dumisa Jantze had a shot tipped away for a corner, from which a Geoffrey Roman header was cleared off the line.
Civics kept up the pressure and another corner was scrambled away, but it was Stars who took the lead in comical circumstances.
Stars striker Nico Mutumbura sent a tame shot towards Civics' goal, but an awkward bounce completely bamboozled Mulife, who watched in horror as the ball rolled into an empty net.
Civics immediately attacked again and Jantze came close with a cracking shot, but Stars' defence managed to hold out till halftime.
Civics continued to attack after the break, but spurned several chances. A Roman shot hit the crossbar, while substitute striker William Chilufya shot wide from close range.
Stars weathered the storm and increased their lead when Freedom Puriza scored from a quick counter attack in the 79th minute.
It was a great weekend for Stars with two victories, while Civics could only pick up a point.
